Commentary

Some descendants of Robert [02B1] migrated to the Knoxville, Tennessee area in 1798 and were prominent merchants in that town.

This lineage is not represented in our membership, nor in the DNA database. However, Zella Armstrong in Notable Southern Families-Volume 3 states that this lineage, as well as Lineage Key A, to which she posits a connection, both originate from a French Huguenot line, originally named Parc. She states the family fled to Ireland from Southern France at the time of the Massacre of Saint Bartholomew (1572) or later at the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes (1685).

We do have DNA representation of the Lineage Key A line, and the haplogroup is designated as I-M223. Family Tree DNA has this to say about that haplogroup: “The lineage likely has its roots in northern France. Today it is found most frequently within Viking / Scandinavian populations in Northwest Europe and extends at low frequencies into Central and Eastern Europe.” While not conclusive proof, this is consistent with the Huguenot origin theory.
